WASSCE students to write Arabic
The leadership of the Federation of Islamic Senior High Schools has directed all its member schools which have adopted Arabic as a subject to prepare and register students for examinations. The West African Examinations Council has re-introduced Arabic as an elective subject in its syllabus. Candidates from Islamic senior high schools are expected to register and write Arabic as one of their elective subjects in the 2017 May/June WASSCE. The Council will also include the subject for junior high school candidates who will sit for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in 2018. “The struggle for the reintroduction of Arabic language as an examinable subject started since the introduction of the senior high school system in Ghana. The struggle only came to fruition recently with the endorsement of His Excellency the president of the republic of Ghana John Dramani Mahama. The federation is informing the whole country that Arabic language is now examinable as an elective subject beginning from the 2017 WASSCE May/June examinations. We also wish to state that Arabic Language will be examinable at the BECE level from 2018. We wish to inform all Islamic Senior High Schools offering Arabic as a subject to prepare and register their candidates for the 2017 May/June WASSCE, the registration of which is currently ongoing,†the National Vice President of the Federation, Alhaji Yahuza Abubakar, announced at a press conference in Kumasi on Sunday October 24. “All teaching and learning materials are available and accessible at the various zonal offices of the federation.†Published by GWS Online GH : 2016-10-25 More News Do you have News to share?
