Gov't refuses to pay Mahama's 60% NSS allowance increase

 NSS

It appears the current government will not implement the 60% increment in allowance of personnel National Service Scheme (NSS) that was announced by the previous government a few days to exiting power.

The then National Democratic Congress (NDC) government approved the amount of GH¢559.04 to be paid to National Service Personnel as monthly allowance starting January 1, 2017.

The reviewed amount represented a 60 percent increment of GH¢350 which was contained in a statement signed by Finance Ministry's Chief Director, Patrick Nomo who directed the Auditor-General to conduct an audit of the new rate to enable payment to start as scheduled.

Service Personnel who trooped to the banks for their January allowances on Monday were left disappointed as they there was no increment as announced.

Bank officials were reluctant in advancing reasons for the GH¢350 instead of GH¢559.04.
