River Turns Blood Red Due To Illegal Activities In Koforidua
A river in Koforidua called "ATAKPAAME" (NsuKwoa) has turned blood red this morning. According to residents in Koforidua, Nsukwao and neighboring towns were left baffled (shocked) when they woke up and discovered their river had turned blood-red. According to residents who live in the area, the river was flowing normally at 5 a.m. in the morning but within just a few minutes it began turning to a red color. Residents in the community said they have always been able to catch fish and even drink from the river because it was so good and have never seen such a strange thing before in the community, but now things have changed for the worse. They also said that nobody has any idea how it could have ended up being polluted, because there are no palm nut factories that dump anything in the river. The Eastern Regional Police Commander in charge of Public Affairs ASP Ebenezer Tetteh, said the culprits will be dealt with accordingly. "Our preliminary investigations show that, it was not blood, but rather some unscrupulous persons might have poured some chemicals into it upstream and that was what was flowing downstream." he narrated.
